If you read our 2026 interior design trends post, you already know. Burgundy wasn’t a surprise. We saw it coming and we called it emotional armor.
And now it’s here, fully landed in one of the most underrated pieces in the home, the dining chair.
It’s kind of wild how many silhouettes can carry this color without collapsing. That’s not easy. Burgundy has weight, it can feel heavy. But right now? The selection in this colorway right now is genuinely exciting.

Emeco – 111 Navy Chair
Fritz Hansen – Series 7 Dining Chair
Herman Miller – Eames Molded Plywood Chair
Artek – Atelier Chair
Carl Hansen & Søn – CH24 Wishbone Chair
Hay – Rey Chair
Mizetto – Enfold Armchair
FDB Møbler – J46 Dining Chair
Gebruder Thonet Vienna – You Dining Chair
Vitra – Standard Prouvé Chair
Ferm Living – Herman Dining Chair
Hay – Petit Standard Chair
Hay – Revolt Dining Chair
Petite Friture – Fromme Chair
Vitra – Panton Chair
For clean Scandinavian lines, I keep reaching for the CH24 Wishbone Chair from Carl Hansen & Søn or the Series 7 by Fritz Hansen. Both are light in structure, which is works best with burgundy.
For more eclectic, maximalist space, the Vitra Panton Chair in burgundy becomes almost sculptural, one continuous curve, no interruption. In burgundy it feels sensual, bold. Maybe too bold…depends on the room.
And we have the industrial honesty of the Emeco 111 Navy Chair. Recycled material, solid silhouette, but in burgundy it feels less strict.
My advice? Don’t be afraid to mix silhouettes within the same color. A unified burgundy palette across two or three different chair styles can look incredibly curated and intentional rather than mismatched.
Burgundy works beautifully alongside warm neutrals, aged brass hardware, dark walnut, creamy plaster walls and even deep forest greens.
Burgundy needs grounding, but when you give it that balance? It holds the room.
